The goal of the Melting Silos Program is to connect local filmmakers and digital media talent in a way that educates both parties and facilitates the development of project materials to be ready for further development.

As the filmmakers need not have digital media skills, but a curiosity and desire to dive into this world with a creative idea, the digital media professionals provide technical and creative support for the projects. Digital Media Developers need not have story writing/telling expertise but possess a strong understanding of the interactive medium and have production proficiency.

The end product for partnered participants of the Melting Silos program is a developed online concept pitch package ready for production financing. The concept development process involves 4 days of workshops, keynote presentations from industry leading subject matter experts, off site mentoring and support and final vetting of concepts in a peer juried pitch session.

PAST PARTICIPANT TESTIMONIALS:

“Melting Silos workshop was one of the most interesting workshops I have attended in years. Designed for the storyteller entering the world of new media, the workshop was flawless and top-notch in its ability to combine informational sessions, mentorship, one-on-one relationship building, group bonding and focused work sessions. What also impressed me was the organizers' attention to detail which, as we know, is mostly where the devil resides. My project "In Your Shoes" (one of 6 workshopped last year at Melting Silos) is now in early development with the National Film Board of Canada. If you have an opportunity to attend even a single session, grab it!” Meghna Haldar

“Melting Silos did a commendable job of bringing together a dynamic and motivated group of professionals. Sharp organization, relevant course material, and outstanding presenters and facilitation. I acquired new experience, resources and language that has benefited current work, as well as created new opportunities. It was obvious that something very unique took place and I wouldn't hesitate to participate again. I miss it.” Jesse Korzan, Creative Director, Work at Play

“What a terrific opportunity Melting Silos turned out to be. What I walked away from after this workshop was a new appreciation for mediums I'd never heard of before, an understanding of the many innovative ways to tell stories across those mediums and the contacts to move ahead with these ideas. I met people who I am now working on projects with; one on a traditional medium and one on an experimental medium - both which are inspiring. To be able to shut the door on the constant squawk of the politics of creating content in this country and to focus solely on the creative was an experience unlike any other. I feel very privileged to have been a part of this special club.” Kellie Ann Benz, Director 'Stupid Chainsaw Tricks', Writer/Director, 'Awkward'

“The entire experience still resonates with me strongly. Sure, the project didn't get funding but the whole process of working through a trans media storytelling idea was truly valuable. There is no better way to create this type of innovation except to jump right in which is what Agentic suggested. Having film-makers pair up with Interactive Studios worked so well. Everyone was really willing to let go and let their projects grow. The lecture by Jeff Gomez was particularly of interest to me. His talk was very inspiring and reassuring that this type of storytelling has been given great focus in the entertainment industry. Actually, I'm now enrolled in a Master's Program at ECUAD with a focus in Trans Media storytelling and Interactive Spaces. Thank you Agentic for giving us the opportunity to create.” Myron Campbell, Creative Director, Switch United
